The Launch of Worship Community Ireland!
Hi all
I hope you are all well.
I am pleased to announce the launch of Worship Community Ireland (WCI). This initiative has emerged from the needs expressed by many worship leaders, song-writers and musicians for support and training. It is all about developing relationships and support networks between worship leaders and musicians in Ireland. We are aiming to provide you with opportunities to meet with each other and God and get what it is you need to do a great job in your local church.
Last Saturday morning we had our 2nd Worship Community Ireland (WCI) meeting in City Church, Belfast. Singer and song-writer Claire Hamilton, shared with us about the importance of community and we took some time apply this to our local situations – I found it really useful and the feedback has been great.
We also took some time to explain a little more about our plans for the future. These plans have been developed based on what the participants said at our first meeting. We have lots of confirmed dates for 2008 and we are hoping to bring in speakers and worship leaders like Robin Mark, Iain Archer, Paul Reid, Kathryn Scott, Marie Lacey and Tim Hughes. We are also hoping to bring over some people from Kingsway/Survivor Records (Les Moir, Adrian Thompson and/or Stevie Doc) to hear their perspective.
The next confirmed date is Saturday 5th January and we are really pleased to have Tre Sheppard with us for the morning. Tre is the singer/song-writer with the band 100 Hours who are signed to Survivor Records. Tre has a great heart for social justice and has many useful things to say about the culture of worship that we are accustomed to. I’ve heard him speak a few times at main-stage in Summer Madness and Soul Survivor and he has some fantastic and important things to impart...so I’d encourage you all to put that date in your diary.
Once we have the other people confirmed, I will let you know.
We are also in the process of developing a WCI website and blog in order to facilitate some of your requests for online support. More on this once we get it going! In the meantime, you can check my blog for further details – go to www.johnnyparks.com and click on blog.
If you would like any further information, please email me.
See you all soon,
Johnny Parks

Hey jonny. I don't know if you get any stuff from the David Crowder Band but on their tour of america, or some parts of it, they asked a local homeless shelter what they needed. They suggested towels and blankets, so they put out a call for everyone going to the concert to bring either towel or blanket. I thought that as Tre Shepherd is into the whole social justice thing maybe we could copy? Just a thought...hey and the art of good leadership is delegation!!
Thanks for saturday it was really encouraging and just what i needed i the momment
Cheers Jonny Keep at it.You and the band are such a blessing
Thats awesome news!
Hi Pete, social justice is something that the band are realy passionate about as individuals and definately something that we want to build upon as a band. The Crowder band had a great idea which could be replicated...this is something we really want to push! We're in the process of discussing lots of stuff like this in the band at the moment so if you have any ideas at all post them here...
