New Album Update
Hi All
Sorry it has been a while since my last blog! Been focused on lots of stuff and have let this slip a bit. The good thing is there's lots to update you with.
So...at the moment we are getting everything organised for the recording. We are going to Windmill Lane Studio on the 7th August to put down the tracks. Me and the band are all going and Shane Wilson is co-producing with us. Iain Archer is gonna come and help for a few days and hopefully we'll get a few other musicians appearing.
We've been working hard on the new tunes. So far we have 10 the we have pre-produced (out of these, we have led worship with 6 in a variety of settings and they are getting a good response). The tunes are: Rescuer, Lord Of The Earth; Victorious; Walls; Troubles Are Over; Amazingly; Let Justice Be My Light; Brand New Day; Our God Is Mighty and Great Church...it's pretty exciting.
We are using all the instruments we normally use and the sounds we like on the recording and...we will getting back in touch with our roots and introducing some tasteful Irish instruments. Honestly...these songs are gonna sound sooo good - we are buzzing about the sounds and ideas.
We have really felt challenged to write songs for our local context and church for this album (as well as songs for the world). We want the album to have a strong connection with Northern Ireland. There are 2 songs that we've already written that are immediately connected to our country and what God has done here in recent times. We are excited that God has responded to the prayers of the church and the we are entering a new era of peace and stability here...so we have written one song that is a celebration of God's great work here....it's called 'The Troubles Are Over'. We feel pretty encouraged about it and have been asking people here to join with us in singing it...it is a statement about what has apready happened here and what is yet to happen. You're gonna really respond to it.
Once we record in Dublin, we'll be doing overdubs in Blackdog studio in Belfast and mixing in Nashville. we'll have to get some nice new photos taken soon and our good mate Hutch is gonna do that for us. He's great craic....looking forward to seeing him.
Hopefully we will have the album ready for everyone to buy at the start of November.
Please remember us in your prayers as we roll up our sleeves and get recording over the next while.
ta,
JP
