Some News
I hope this finds you all well.
I wanted to send you a wee update to let you know what’s been going on in this neck of the woods! We’re in the process of getting ready for the new album. It’s really exciting. We are planning to have the album out for the end of September 07. We’re gonna be recording most of the summer in the famous ‘Windmill Lane’ studio, Dublin. Nowthis is exciting! This is where U2 recorded almost all their early stuff (plus some of their later stuff) and it is now owned by Van the Man Morrison. How good is that?! Can’t wait.
Although it is not confirmed at the moment, we are in the process of finalising who we are going to co-produce the record with. At the moment it looks like it will be Shane Wilson. He’s based in Nashville and has recently co-produced David Crowder’s ‘A-Collision’. However, I think the thing that attracted me to him is his work wirh Derek Webb. (If you don’t know Derek Webb, check him out. Great melody and great words. Fantastic tune called ‘A New Law’). It’s kinda tough getting the right producer. We’ve looked at lots of possibilities and Shane seems to be the man. We want someone who understands our sounds and what we are trying to do but who is also willing to really challenge the songs and get the best from us.
It is also likely that we will be getting Iain Archer to help us out with some pre-production and guitar sounds. Iain is an incredibly gifted song-writer and has been a mate of mine since I bumped into him on Bangor beach when I was a wee lad of 11. He's a nice fella! Plus he has played guitar on lots of Snow Patrol stuff and co-written some tunes with Gary Lightbody.
The songs are coming along really well. Lots of good tunes getting established and other ones emerging – very exciting! We’ve been recording some demos recently just to get a feel of the songs and let some ideas bubble up. There are sounding good.
What else is going on with uswell we have some new dates coming up in the summer. We’re playing the Summer Madness Festival and also touring a bit with Chris Tomlin in the UK (dates to be confirmed).
Can I ask you to remember to pray for our drummer, Nik’s sister (Lindsay). She is very ill at the moment with cancer and we are praying for a miracle. Please fight with us.
Talk to you all soon
Peace
