Summer Frolics

Hi everyone

So...I'm sitting in Muskoka, just north of Toronto on my buddy Iain's deck looking at the beautiful lake and enjoying the sun and was thinking about you all...wishing you were here.

I just wanted to post a wee comment to touch base and say hello. Life has been pretty full recently. I've been travelling a bit in England and over in Canada meeting some absolutely fantastic people and having a great time.

I was in Leeds in England for a week studying a course in NLP with a great group of people. It has been a really useful, inspiring experience. I am in Toronto at the moment getting inspired, hanging with a few friends and reflecting on life a bit. We're heading back to England on the 20th Aug to play over at Soul Survivor for a few days too. Can't wait.

Song writing recently has been really brilliant. The songs are coming thick and fast and I am really pleased with them. I think that some of the stuff I am writing at the moment is the best stuff I have done. The songs are exciting me, the feedback so far has been great and I get the impression that they'll travel far and wide. Once I get some rough mixes done I will post them on the site for you to listen to.

I've been thinking about getting a new guitar recently. Probably some sort of vintage electric...like a nice old Fender Tele custom or a Gibson SG. Anyone know any good place I could get one at a reasonable price or better still...any of you selling one (even if it is beat up)? If so, email me and let me know (info@johnnyparks.com)

You listening to any good music recently or reading any good books? I am reading a great book by a fella called Tad James. Been listening to the Dixie Chicks new album a lot recently. Didn't think I'd like it but I have fallen in love with it. The first song 'Taking The Long Way Round' is really, really REALLY inspiring! I have had it on repeat a LOT. Check it out.

What other news? Our youngest wee fella Dillon caught his finger in the door the other day and crushed the top of it off. Pretty traumatic and gruesome. The tip of his finger was attached by a bit of skin. Lots of blood and tears. We rushed him to A&E and they have stiched his finger back on and it looks like he'll be fine. He has been such a wee trooper (just like his Dad). You can say your prayers for him.

No other news at the moment...talk soon.

Slainte

Johnny
