Praying For Peace

I am just back from leading worship at a prayer meeting in Stormont Buildings - the home of the soon to be (hopefully) Northern Ireland Assembly. I was there with my church (Christian Fellowship Church) on our annual week of prayer and fasting to pray for increased peace in our country. We are at an interesting time in our country where the main political parties have the opportunity to work with each other and establish a 'power-sharing' government. This would be a huge step forward for us however at the moment it is hanging in the balance.

It is so good to be a part of a family who are genuinely concerned with leaving a legacy of peace in our country. It was fantastic to be in the room where the elected representatives, decision makers and political figures have met in our country over decades and pray for the Kingdom of God to be present. The alternative Kingdom that challenges the dominant voice and ushers in a spirit of understanding, peace and compassion.

There was a sense that we were praying into the new future that our country will have. There are still many political difficulties and complexities in N Ireland and it was great to pray for a future where some of these difficulties are behind us and we live in a land of blessing. Please take time to pray for the main political parties over the next couple of months as they try to listen to each other, represent their communities and find an acceptable solution for our future.

Thanks,
JP

Hey Johnny,

Stumbled upon your site today :) I was at PFYN last year and just wanted to thank you for your involvement there. Your talk on creativity and the slideshow of your boys really spoke to me and the times of worship that you led really opened up the way for the Holy Spirit to move. I live in Cape Town, South Africa, so rather a long way away from Belfast, but I hope our paths cross again sometime in the future. You rock dude!

Johnny, I've never met you, but had the privilege of attending Mannafest during the '00 - '01 time frame. I was working for Youth For Christ NI at the time (I am an American). I was always moved into worship at those Mannafest meetings! Recently, my husband and two children and I moved to Wisconsin, about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Minneapolis. I was excited to get an email from you sharing that you'd be in Minny in February with Chris Tomlin. We are excited about the possibility of coming to see you and Chris in February! We are hoping to get a group of the college students at our church together to come as well. Some of the college students went on a trip to NI this summer to help with a Vineyard church there and got really excited about all things NorIrish! Though it has its troubles, you live in a country that God has not forgotten and He is actively pursuing His people there!

Anyway, all this to say I'm excited at the possibility of being led into worship by you again.

See you in February!
