Oh my goodness...anthems!
Hi
Yes I know it is a dramatic title to this blog comment, however, I think it deserves it. (It's good to be dramatic every now and then anyway).
I'm sitting in Heathrow at the moment and have just spent 2 FANTASTIC days over in England. I had a totally productive, inspiring time writing with Matt Redman. We got working on 2 songs - one called 'Can't Stop This Noise' that I have been playing recently. We fine tuned the words. built a great pre-chorus and re-wrote the chorus...which was the part of the song I was least happy with. I think the version of the song we developed is sooooo good! It's a really BIG song...a great builder with lots of passion. I can't wait to get back and get it infront of the band and let them hear the edits. I think it is a cert for the album.
After a pretty tasty meal with Andrew (Matt's keys player) and a great old chin-wag about life, we then worked on one of Matts that is in the pipeline. It is a great tune with a wonderful melody. We came up with a nice melody for the chorus and played with the intro a bit. It is sounding like a great tune too! Really good work.
After that, I then made my way up to Heathrow for an early morning meeting with the guys from EMI. We had a great yarn about the way forward and chatted about some potentially great developments in the US. They have been really supportive.
Finally...I made it up to London town to hang with Nick Herbert and get a bit more writing done. We had a great time...what a lovely bloke. I hung out with his wife and wee girl too - they are great folk. Nick an I have been working on a tune called 'Rescuer'. Again, we made a number of significant changes to it and both of us are feeling really excited and positive about the song. Hmmm...it is really sounding great.
I feel really encouraged and excited about all the songs. They are becoming anthems! It is so good taking the tunes and putting them in from of other people for input and feedback. The church in England has some GREAT writers. Really great. (But I still think the Irish have the looks!)
Hope you are all well.
