I am doing it!

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all doing GREAT.

I wanted to blog to update you about what has been going on recently (for all of you who have received this via email, I am sorry if I am repeating myself...oops)

Well the BIG news for me is that at the end of December this year I am leaving my full time position at the Northern Ireland Youth Forum and from January 07 onwards I will be concentrating loads more time on song-writing, recording and gigging. Oh yes baby...

I am also going to be putting a bit of time into writing a book (about my sons engaging with the education system in N Ireland, through the eyes of their Dad...me!) and...I am setting up a consultancy business that will primarily concentrate on leadership, change and creativity in education, business and church.

So, there's lots and lots happening that is pretty exciting!

It's been a really interesting process for me getting to the place where i have had the courage to make this decision. I think most of my decisions in recent years have been driven by fear and safety and over the summer I got a wee bit fed up with myself for giving myself lots of elaborate reasons for not doing and becoming who and what I am called to do & be. (Plus...let's be honest, whilst what I am doing can sound scary, it also sounds like a whole lot of fun!!!)

I have gone from a place where I have felt pretty scared about the decision to feeling flippin' full of confidence, creativity and excitement. I feel like I am bursting at the seams to get started and fulfill all the stuff that's on my heart.

So, here's the jam...I am going to be starting this from jan 07 onwards and I am filling up my diary with lots of dates etc. I am getting lots of opportunities to do various bits and pieces of work however my priority is to get out and play more music! So, if you want me to get out and get playing where you are, you need to be letting me know really soon...I want to get out as much as possible, so if you want to book me then all you need to do is email me at johnny@johnnyparks.com. Come on....get busy!

Also, I am going to be recording a new album next year to be ready for June. I am in the process of digging into more of God to get the songs that are on His heart. There's some great stuff emerging and I can't wait to get the recording done and let you all hear the new tunes....I think you'll like them (the band is sounding amazing!). I'll keep you posted about this on the blog.

Anyway....enough about me, how you doing?

Keep dreaming

Johnny ooo

Hi Johnny

Andy Rogers here - I'm intrigued by your journey going on here, it seems to have lots of parallels to my own in terms of timing and philosophy.

I Loved what you wrote about creativity, the distructive connection with fear was very insightful (and helpful).

Some mutual friends (David & Claire, Gary Burrows etc) keep telling me "you should talk to Johnny Parks".

I'll drop you an email.

Cheers - Andy
