Co-writing with Matt Redman

Hi everyone

So....the songs are being collected for the new album and I am feeling more and more excited about how they are developing! I spent a couple of days last week over at Matt's house in England working on some new material.

It has been an interesting and very productive process writing with Matt. We both work well together and bring our own ideas and contributions to the table. Most writers have particular approaches to songs and have developed a certain craft of writing. Matt and I have our own unique ways of hearing songs and we probably view them from different angles. This has been very constructive as, during the process, we searched long and hard for just the right melody and words - we worked very well together.

We spent quite a bit of time revisiting 2 songs that we had started previously: "You Can't Stop This Noise" and "Amazingly" and we got these 2 songs pretty much nailed. We then began to work on a couple of others and look at some words that we felt inspired about, meaning that we have the guts of another 3 or 4 songs in the pipeline. Good stuff.

Anyway, once I get the chance to get some decent versions recorded, I will post them for you to listen to.

Over and out,

JP

Awesome. Matt is one of my favorite songwriters.
I get to see him and Chris Tomlin here in America on the Jan. 2th.
Can't wait!
Also can't wait to hear your new songs as well!

Thanks for blogging. I like your thoughts on "Faith". I too, look forward to seeing Matt Redman... next month in the U.S. I've been listening to him for years, so it will be nice to finally hear and worship with him live.

Take care
